Drew Brown / Hymns For The Architect
Biography
The award-winning Canadian Singer-Songwriter and producer Drew Brown weaves a deep story into the lyrics and melodies of his music. With influences from pop, soul, indie-folk, & electro, his self-produced and Juno-nominated album "Analog Love in Digital Times" takes listeners on an honest and adventurous ride through the complexities of love. His 2017 EP "Homecoming" features the single "Where the Heart Is," as well as b-sides and live recordings that continue to explore deeper soundscapes and storytelling.
During a hiatus from his singer-songwriter work, the artist began a new project called Hymns For The Architect, creating music for worship and other spiritual practices. With award-winning projects such as 2017's Lent/Easter EP "The Bright Sadness" & 2018's Advent album "X" - Drew led the listener thru darker and hope-filled moments of the church calendar.
He followed it up with the nine-track album "Solace From Solitude" (2019), consisting of instrumental ambient music for the sacred spaces of quiet reflection, meditation, prayer and quiet times.
Those themes continued in 2020 with the releases of "X:Instrumentals" (which consisted of selected tracks from the 2018 album as well as new songs) and "Waves Upon Waves," which was an album intentionally created for people coping with isolation, pandemic fatigue, and grief.
The latest release from HFTA, titled "everythingwillbefine?", follows the same path as the previous work, "Solace", encouraging individuals to take a moment and slow down. Drew's heart for connecting with people through music is evident from the first meeting. He aims to connect people to hope and love, bringing them into a space of wonder and gratitude through music and story.
“As a proud father who is occasionally clumsy, and a leader with more than 25 years of experience in ministry teams and projects, I strongly believe in the power of the arts to bring about spiritual and social transformation. My work has instilled in me a deep passion for exploring uncharted sub-genres, fostering collaborations, and maintaining an unwavering sense of curiosity.”
