Biography
For Singer-songwriter, Jalene Buyer, weaving words and melodies together has been an instinctive way for her to pray, make sense of the world, and understand the inner workings of the human heart. Jalene’s style of music takes on an acoustic-folk flair that is fuelled by rich and honest lyrics and warm, powerful vocals.
Jalene, and her husband, Adam first began to bond over power chords in their high school years and have had the privilege of writing and playing music together ever since. In 2013, they recorded their first full length album, Only One Thing is Needed. In 2016, Jalene recorded her first solo EP (Still) and the feature song, Be Still, was played on Shine FM radio in both Alberta & Saskatchewan.
Most of Jalene's days are full to the brim with all the beautiful chaos that comes with raising her favorite three little people (Libby, Hallie, and Jack) and serving the local church alongside her husband, Adam, who is Pastoring at Terwillegar Community Church in Edmonton, AB. Despite the fullness of this season of life, Jalene tries to give herself the grace of hiding away with a cup of coffee to weave words and melodies together and is back to recording music with her single, 'Wait' will be released Summer 2024.
Jalene’s drive to make music has always been fuelled by her faith and her deep desire to serve people. Music has a way of softening the hardest of hearts and can break down barriers that divide people from one another and from their Heavenly Father. When words are set to melodies, something within us breathes, and invites us to take pause. Jalene has seen the way that the Spirit of God can meet people through music to reveal more about who He is, bring healing to broken places, and to plant seeds of empowerment and hope. Writing and performing music has always been a joy for Jalene, and whether she is on a large stage or in the comfort of someone’s living room, she counts it a privilege to play music as a way to invite others into the presence of Jesus.
I work super part time as a psychometrist, am finishing up a BA in theology, and am just beginning the crazy journey of homeschooling my kids.
Adam is my high school sweetheart, best friend, and first love. We said “I do,” 15 years ago in a little chapel in the woods. We were both barely 19 years old and blissfully unaware of all the responsibilities of adulthood. We figured it out together and are all the better for it.
I also have the greatest privilege of being ‘mama’ to my 3 favourite little people; Libby, Hallie, and Jack. After a 6 year journey through the heartache of miscarriage and infertility, Adam and I had our 3 miracle babies back to back. Life is full and beautiful and crazy hard some days. There is never a dull moment.
And these words and melodies of mine?
I hope that they can help ground our feet firm in the Truth of who God is and prompt our hearts back to the feet of Jesus. To get where we are going, we are going to need to start there and keep company with Him and each other along the way.
