Biography

Take one adventurous, fun-loving, creative dad, combine with his four uniquely talented, courageous, and friendly kids, and you have The Springmans!

The Springmans……. are a Vancouver, Canada-based, award winning Christian music group that bring their unique style of ukulele-strumming, djembe-drumming, guitar and mandolin-picking catchy songs to audiences all over North America and Europe!  The Springmans' first album, Happy Beach, (produced by and co-written with multi-Grammy© and Dove Award winner Mark Heimermann (dcTalk, Michael W. Smith, Newsboys), earned a multitude of awards including the GMA Canada Covenant Award for “Children’s Album Of The Year,” the ParentsChoice Award, and the NPPA Award.

As industry insiders know, winning awards such as the Parents’ Choice Award and the GMA Canada Covenant Award, as The Springmans did with their first album, Happy Beach, is a very unusual accomplishment for any artist, but especially for an indie band.

A family band of self-described "musicianaries," The Springmans is comprised of dad Perry Springman on vocals, guitar, and ukulele; Emma (19) on ukulele, vocals, and mandolin;  Ryan (16) on drums, vocals, mandolin, and djembe;  Sarah (14) on vocals, keyboards, and percussion;  Jacob (12) on vocals, violin, and percussion;  Julia (‘Mom’) serves as the road ‘mom-ager’ for the busy traveling family band, and road-schooling teacher for the kids.

‘Taking over’ the platform since they were young children, The Springman kids are amazing musicians and performers who love to involve their audiences as they sing and lead songs. Playing a variety of instruments, and with that easy charm that children so often possess, they draw in people of all ages into worship of our God!

With a passion for sharing the life-changing truth of the gospel with the world, Perry and his kids begin and end every song in scripture, weaving eternal messages of hope, mercy, grace, and joy into each verse and chorus throughout their songs, and turning conventional thinking about what contemporary praise and worship music could and should be on its head.

Not content to only settle inside the four walls of the church, the band also plays at family-oriented festivals, fairs, parades, events, and schools worldwide, both mainstream and faith-based, with audience counts into the 20,000s. Their music has a multi-generational appeal, bringing children and adults together with worship music that connects and inspires an incredibly wide range of audiences.

"In a Christian worship-music culture that tends to create music that separates the church body into age categories, our family is convinced we need to worship Him together," says Perry Springman. "Our newest album, Upside Down, is our call to worship as the family of Christ—with songs that we hope and pray will draw adults and kids together in worship of the One who calls us His children. If you choose to love and follow Jesus, then you shouldn’t be surprised if the world looks at you as, well, upside down—different, strange, and peculiar. But, isn’t living a life without the One who created us, knows us, and loves us, truly upside down?”

The new project features the band's home-grown, organic brand of ‘feeling grateful’ pop and praise music, which is woven together with clever lyrics, and quality musicianship and production at every turn. Produced by and co-written with Mark Heimermann the project is a worthy follow-up to The Springmans' award-winning debut album, Happy Beach.

"It's extremely rare to find a family that can sing, play, and travel together in this day and age, but it is so needed!" says Heimermann. "I love the joy and innocence of their music, and it's always fun working on The Springman's records. The world can always use some more 'back to our roots' kind of family entertainment with some wholesome Biblical messages. This record is filled with such sweetness!”

Their new album features solos by each of the Springman children, along with performances by veteran Las Vegas brass players Dan Falcone (trumpet), Eric Tewalt (sax), and Nathan Tanouye (trombone).

The Springmans, are excited to release their latest project from Sony Orchard, available on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Tidal, and many others.  Their new album captures the vibe and charm of the first project and takes  it to a new level of wonder! More than a collection of songs or a family jam session, however, Upside Down is a serious declaration of devotion made by young believers and their spiritually grounded father.

In addition to performing concerts world-wide, The Springmans also lead worship services, school concerts for elementary, middle, and high school students, summer camps, music camps, VBS, music workshops and seminars.
